It’s insane to think that the iconic palm-shaped islands are all man-made. I mean, it’s too symmetrical and perfect to be natural. But also I just can’t wrap my head around how humans created those islands! We got the VIP tickets, so we got to go to the 54th floor. The VIP lounge was super nice - loved the dates and drinks. And honestly it was great to skip the line. There was a HUGE wait to get inside! I guess because it was sunset, so prime hours.
The sights over the Palm Jumeirah are stunning. We planned our visit to the View at the Palm to be around sunset, and we had to wait a little, but it was worth it. The colors falling over the sea, over the Dubai skyline…just otherworldly. I also really appreciated The View Exhibition. I wasn’t sure why they even built the islands, or why they look like a palm tree beyond aesthetic reasons. It’s a very educational exhibition. There are also interactive elements if you have bored children with you.

ENJOY PANORAMIC SIGHTS OF THE PALM JUMEIRAH
Climb up 240 meters, to the 52nd floor, and view Palm Jumeirah from an unmatched vantage point. In fact, the View at the Palm is the highest building on the archipelago! From so high up, you’ll enjoy 360° sights over the beautiful archipelago of man-made islands. The bird’s-eye view means you can clearly see the date palm shape. It wasn’t chosen arbitrarily. The date palm is the national plant of the United Arab Emirates. As such, the meticulous planning and beauty of the islands are an iconic symbol of Dubai’s growth and energy.
THE VIEW SURROUNDING THE ARCHIPELAGO
Besides the Palm Jumeirah, the Palm observatory provides a panorama of broader Dubai. For starters, you’ll see stunning views of the Arabian Gulf. Take in the crystal-clear blue water - it’ll seem like it’s never-ending! You’ll also see the flipside: the human-made, towering Dubai skyline. Highlights include the Burj Khalifa, the highest building in the world at 829.8 meters. Also notice the Burj Al Arab Hotel. At 321 meters, it’s one of the tallest hotels in the world! You’ll also probably spot Palm West Beach, a walkable waterfront on the archipelago.
LEARN THE PALM JUMEIRAH’S HISTORY AT THE VIEW EXHIBITION
The View at the Palm tickets include admission to The View Exhibition. This showcase illustrates the complete history of the Palm Jumeirah. As you’ll soon learn, the project began in 2001. The artificial islands were created via land reclamation, with roughly three areas. The ‘trunk’ is a mixed residential and commercial area. The branches are solely for residential homes. Finally, the outer crescent is for luxury resorts. In 2006, the first residents moved in. By 2007, 500 families lived on the archipelago. Today, the archipelago is home to more than 78,000 residents!
